Transcribing works are boring and monotonous. It feels even more boring if you are typing in a non-Latin complex language (Bangla, Hindi, etc.) because typing in those languages is really tough.
In this post, I am gonna talk about 4 different ways to transcribe an audio. The choice is yours: you may like to use the single most convenient technique for you, or you may use different techniques depending on different situations, or you can use different techniques on different times just to relieve annoyance.
The techniques:
- Upload and transcribe manually: There are some transcribing websites which will let you transcribe easily and conveniently. For example, in oTranscribe or GoTranscriber, you have to first upload the audio or video file, then you can start typing on the web writer. The website will let you use different shortcuts to slow and fasten the playback speed, pause, insert timestamp, etc. Thus, you don't have to move your hand from your keyboard. A nice way to transcribe, right? It's the best way for a professional transcriber.
- Use a transcriber app: Google live transcribe is a great app for transcribing without trouble. Just open the app, and then play the file in the background. Use the Ymusic app to play Youtube videos in the background. It works almost accurately in English. Proofread the transcript upon hearing the audio to correct mistakes. This technique doesn't work well enough for non-Latin complex languages (Bangla, Hindi, etc.) and you have to waste some time on correcting the script.
- Use a transcribing website: Some websites such as Otter and Trint provide paid transcribing services. Just upload the file and you will get the automatic transcript after a while. These websites support many languages. I tried those websites for English transcribing only and found little mistakes.
- Hear and speak: This technique can be used for non-Latin complex languages and if your typing speed is very slow. Use Gboard voice typing or google docs voice typing. The technique is: Hear a sentence and talk to the microphone. Adjust your talking speed to maintain correctness. Slower talking will give better voice typing. You may need to stop when long and hard words come. It's a very time-consuming method. But you can do it just to have fun or if you feel uncomfortable with other techniques.
